Memories of Halloween
There are many holidays in a year. Some of them are meaningful, but some are so boring that you can’t even remember them. If you ask me which holiday is the most unforgettable one in the past nineteen years, I will say Halloween without hesitation. Because on that day, I experienced the foreign culture and had a lot of fun.
Halloween is a holiday on the last day in October. Children on the day will dress as ghosts and witches. When I was ten years old, I join this fun holiday party, too. My English school held a party and every child had to dress like mummies or monsters. However, it was hard for me to decide which ghost I should be. I asked my mom to help me, and finally we came up with a good idea. I would dress as a student. After we decided on the theme, it’s time to gather the clothes I had to wear. First, we had to find a skirt and s shirt. Then, we had to find a vest and wool pants. We borrowed a vest from my mother’s colleague’s daughter and took out my winter uniform. It’s perfect for dressing as a student! Then Halloween was just around the corner.
On the very day that the party was held, I went to school with an elementary student’s look. All my friends dressed up themselves. One of them dressed as a mummy. I was really wondering how many bandages he used and how much time it took to wrap himself like that. The teachers in the school had already prepared a lot of interesting activities for us, and of course, they were all “fully armed.” Every classroom was decorated with a different theme and we had to play a game there. If we failed to finish the job, we would get punishment. I remembered in one classroom there was a castle and the teacher in it was a Vampire. Another was a log cabin and the teacher dressed as a witch. Still another was a circus with a clown.
The tasks were not very hard. We finished the task that the clown asked us to do-to juggle the balls for him, and found the differences between two articles as the Vampire asked. Nevertheless, we failed at the Death’s one. One of my teachers dressed as a Death, and the challenge we had to do was to find five small marbles hided in the classroom within five minutes. When we found the fourth marble, time’s up, which meant we would take the “cruel” punishment. We had to drink a glass of coke with noodles in it. It’s awful, but after all, it’s a punishment.
Now, the day had passed for so long, but I can still remember the funny looks of my teachers, classmates, and those fun activities. Every year when the Halloween is coming, I will recall these unforgettable things. I don’t dress as a ghost to knock my neighbor’s door and say “trick or treat” anymore. I can’t keep in touch with those classmates who used to play with me, but I believe the good memories will not fade away even if I become old.
