If people want to define “beauty,” they will immediately come up with concepts like slenderness, the tallness, delicate face, etc. Which a fashion model has. However, are those girls who have all the elements really beautiful? I think the answer is negative. To me, a true beauty must be a confident woman.
Beauty is not only skin-deep. A real beauty may not have the figure that fits designers’ clothes, and may not have white complexion as Snow White does, either. It doesn’t matter which race she belongs to, and whether she is tall or not. Moreover, she doesn’t have to look like Audrey Hepburn or Chiling Lin. In fact, underneath the appearance, there is only a factor that makes a girl beautiful-confidence. A person who is confident will never despise herself. In that way, she will stand upright, express herself clearly, and meanwhile show her advantages gracefully. Accordingly, every movement of her will attract people’s attention. On the contrary, if a person doesn’t have confidence, even if she looks gorgeous, she can’t be considered a beauty.
Take the super model Chiling Lin as an example. She is undeniable a beauty. However, in my point of view, what makes her beauty complete is her confidence. She is not shy to show her features, and she always looks elegant and never hesitates. Therefore, with her confidence, she is brave to experience more things. In addition, I had an English teacher when I was in high school, who is chubby but is generally considered beautiful. When I saw her at the first sight, I even thought she was fat. Nevertheless, when I knew her more and talked more with her, I changed my mind immediately. She was articulate and also elegant. Even if she was overweight, she loved herself. I really appreciated her a lot because through her firm sight, I could strongly feel that she never felt inferior to others. That moment was the first time I realized what a true beauty was.
By contrast, I once had a classmate who is white and tall. She had a gorgeous face but a passive personality. She is too shy to show her features. Thus, though she is a pretty girl, few people will really appreciate her. There was something missing in her. I think, it was her lack of confidence that made her ordinary and you will not pay any attention to her.
Beauties are always welcomed. But many people’s concept of beauty is often distorted. Who says a beauty must have big eyes and a fit figure? Who says a heavy girl can’t be considered a beauty? In my point of view, every girl who is confident can be a beauty, no matter she is tall or short, heavy or thin.

Cancel Tests? You Will Regret!
Every student has the experience of having tests. Generally speaking, a student has two to three tests of each subject every semester. A student will have up to about thirty tests in a year. It’s undeniable that students don’t like tests. Then why do we still have tests in school? Is it necessary to keep the test system? Although the idea that canceling tests is inviting to many students, we should still keep the test system because without tests, students will lose their motive to study, and through tests we can see students’ learning outcome and achievement. Moreover, the pressure of test-taking can also promote students to learn better.
Some people claim that students’ hard work for getting good grades in tests makes them become test machines. They say that under the test system, students only care how to get good grades but don’t know how to apply the knowledge they learn to their lives. Therefore, many bookworms are very fond of studying textbooks but don’t know how to deal with their problems in real life. Moreover, since those bookworms only want to get good grades in tests, they memorize knowledge without understanding it. However, a good test in fact gives a way to us to see the students’ abilities, and also to show their learning problems. We can’t judge a student just by his grades but tests do provide a referable standard to know his ability. Besides, if there are no tests, students won’t study and not to mention apply knowledge to lives. A good student who really understands the true fact of knowledge and really hopes to be a wisdom person will know how to apply it to life. The test is just a tool that forces students to study, not an elixir of education.
There are still some people against tests because they believe that the strong stress put on students by tests is too heavy to them and may influence their developments. The heavy pressure also makes tests become students’ nightmares and therefore students will try hard to escape from tests sometimes in drastic ways such as committing suicide. Nevertheless, according to some research, the truth is that under certain pressure human can absorb more knowledge and learn better than usual. In addition, the knowledge human seizes under a circumstance without any stress is easier to be forgotten. Pressure is so important to learning and since tests can offer it, they’re supposed to be remained.
Despite the fact that there are many people advocate getting rid of tests and practicing “happy learning,” tests should never be absent in the education system. If the government really does cancel tests, at the beginning students will feel happy but in the end they will all fail. Tests’ importance can’t be underestimated and we really should keep it.

Over
Ayumi Hamasaki(濱崎步) has a song named "over." Now I really want to sing this song out loud because though the final exams are not all passed, I have been through the most terrible ones. This week is really a busy week! I have almost 5 exams during the week and I can imagine this weekend will be also very busy, too because I have three more exams left in the next week.
What I want to say is that the English Literature exam and Linguistics exam were hard!!!! I hope I can get a good grade!
Somehow I can't pronounce the word "three" beautifully. I always have the problem to say the word or maybe I am just afraid of saying the word. Maybe my pronunciation is fine but I just feel uncomfortable to say the word. The worst thing is that I have pronunciation test this week. And the word with "th" sound is absolutely part of the exam. ah~ God bless me!
Recently I found the Facebook is interesting! I visit the website at least once a day. A little bit addict to it I think.XD I invited a lot of my friends to join the website. On the website, people can play the game, create their own pet, chat with friends, and even manager a virtual restaurant. Maybe you can join it, too!

Celebrate this moment~
Today is Friday again, a day that I don't have any class in the afternoon. The most memorable thing is that I finally got all the stamps I need of Foreign Language Access Center. It was really an exhausting work.
Tomorrow I have a GEPT test. It's not a good time because next week I have a lot of midterm exams. Moreover, GEPT test is always so crowded, I really don't like the crowded place. I hope I can pass this test this time because I had took the test for two times! It cost me a lot of money.
Tomorrow is also one of my friends' birthday. We originally planned to go to a nice restaurant but I think it is likely to be canceled because we both don't have enough time to study. Maybe we will celebrate his birthday in summer vacation. The day after tomorrow is Eva's birthday, she is one of my roommates. Therefore, of course I will give her a birthday gift. I already decide to buy a pair of earrings for her. And another roommate will share the money with me. I hope Eva will like the present we chose. And hope those who have already become twenty years old have a good time during this year and not drop anything like in their nineteen year old. Hope I am the same!
